Gooseberry Patch...In a Pickle {Review and Giveaway}

I can not even begin to tell you how excited I was when I was contacted by the wonderful people at Gooseberry Patch wondering if I would be interested in reviewing a cookbook and then offer one to my readers. To quote how I answered the email, "YES YES YES". I was driving down the road w/ my mom and we were both squealing w/ delight! Do you own any of their cookbooks? Well, until about a week before they approached me, I didn't, and now I'm so excited to have 2. The first was an autumn one I won through a contest and now, I get the pleasure of cooking from "Quick and Easy Christmas", the perfect holiday cook book for this everyday mom! As soon as I received my copy in the mail, I started thumbing through trying to decide which two recipes I would share w/ all of you. It wasn't easy!!! There are over 200 recipes that are exactly what they advertise-quick and easy-in categories such as breakfast & brunch, snacks & appetizers, main dishes and desserts, just to name a few. This cookbook is easy to follow, and I think would be perfect for both the experienced cook and novice. (Do you have a new bride on your Christmas list? This would be GREAT for her!)  For my first recipe, I chose to do an appetizer b/c there are so many opportunities that arise during the holiday season for me to take a "little nosh" for family gatherings, parties, or celebrations right here at home. When I saw this dip, I knew it would be a hit w/ our family. We love pickles; and I loved the fact this was a brand new way to use them! This is absolutely delicious and while they suggested serving it w/ potato chips, I found it's also lovely w/ crackers. If you aren't a fan of Gooseberry yet, please head over to their blog or Facebook fan page, check out everything they have to offer, and tell them thank you from EMM! (See below after recipe for giveaway details) Be sure to come back tomorrow to see what other yummy treat I made!

Dill Pickle Dip
5-6 whole dill pickles, chopped
8 oz. cream cheese, softened
2 c. sour cream
1 1/4 tsp garlic salt, or to taste (I used 2 tsp)
Pickle juice for flavor, optional

Mix all ingredients until well combined. Chill for 24 hours before serving. Serve w/ potato chips or crackers.

My favorite is my family's corned beef dip, but I don't have a recipe. Next would be my Mom's cheese ball that I've learned to fake fairly well!

My favorite holiday appetizer is cream cheese topped by green pepper jelly. I know...it doesn't involve much cooking on my part because a friend's church makes the green pepper jelly as a fundraiser each year. A great way to support them and get something yummy!!
