Just about a year ago I was introduced to a recipe done by Mrs. Everyday, Fried Cabbage and Noodles. We love cabbage so much we make it often. But in the fall it seems to show its face much more often. I have added crab and made it into a full meal, and left out the noodles and made it as just a basic side. This time I added bacon and mushrooms. Boy was it good. Along side a grilled steak or a piece of fried chicken. This one is going to be a winner.
Fried Cabbage with Bacon and Mushrooms
1 small head of cabbage, chopped
6 slices thick cut bacon, chopped
1 small onion, chopped
2 c. sliced mushrooms
1 jalapeno, diced
1 tbs. olive oil
1 tsp granulated garlic
Salt and pepper to taste
In a medium sauté pan, heat olive oil. Add onion, jalapeno, mushrooms, and bacon. Cook until onions are clear and bacon is cooked through. Add cabbage, garlic and salt and pepper. Cover and cook for 10-12 minutes. Stirring occasionally, until cabbage is tender. Serve hot with your favorite meat or fish. Enjoy!
