Whew...what a busy week it was in our house last week for our spring vacation, and we never even left Fort Wayne! I am a firm believer that you don't have to go on vacation to have one! I think you can find plenty of fun things to do right in your hometown, or heck, even without leaving the house. No break from school is complete without what we like to call a "Mommy and Monkey Day of Fun"...and this year was no exception, but this time we were able to include Frito Lay in our fun!
How you might ask? Well, because of the great folks at Frito Lay, I had a beautiful new camera to capture some of our fun moments. A gift card to help "fund the fun" and plenty of snack to enjoy and refuel us!
My awesome fan pack... |
First up I treated my boy to one of his favorite meals...brunch! He was able to enjoy eggs, toast, breakfast meats and all the extras while we spent some quality time together.
In our house, Spring Break isn't complete without a trip to the arcade. Luckily we have so many in the city, we were actually able to visit one the boy never had before. It's actually some place his Daddy and I used to hang out in back when we were dating, so it was nice to share that little piece of history with him.
And yes, we even got a couple games of Air Hockey together...him winning both and then declaring "Mommy, I just schooled you." He's lucky he is so cute!
After the arcade we headed to the library so he could stock up on some reading material for the rest of the week. My little book worm was in 7th heaven.
After such a fun day, it was time to come home, relax a little and have a snack. Lucky for us, thanks to Frito Lay, he had plenty to choose from!
So, with snack in hand, he sat down to enjoy a good book and get ready for whatever our next adventure was.
We love taking family vacations to the beach, or exploring different tourist attractions. But sometimes the most fun we have is simply exploring our own backyard, finding ways to have inexpensive fun; and most of all spending time together, loving every minute!
A big thanks to Frito Lay for providing me with this amazing Spring Break fan pack. Be sure to show them some love by liking them on Facebook and following on Twitter!

ReplyDeleteHitting the local skating rink and then the ice cream shop.
ReplyDeleteWe live about six miles from a national forest. Such a beautiful drive through it. There is a river (slow moving)that runs through it and at a particular spot is a nice day area, with picnic tables, bar b qs, and a swing set. We like to pack a picnic and go spend the day there. You can splash around in the river or just float in your innertubes. Along the bank you can hunt for crawdads...there are even hiking trails. It is so peaceful and a great way for the kids to spend some energy while I can just relax!! LOL Joyce

ReplyDeleteThis year for spring break the kids wanted to go to the aquarium. We just couldn't afford it since I just had a baby so as a surprise my husband and I took the kids finger paints and an old sheet and painted the ocean scene with turtles, crabs, a shark, starfish, seashells and a lot of fish. We are not good painters lol but We hung it from two trees over our trampoline. Then we took a sprinkler put it under the trampoline and called the kids out. We had so much fun talking about creatures of the sea. When we got done playing we waited for the trampoline to dry then had a picnic under the sea. When the day ended we washed the sheet and told the kids next time they get to paint the sheet and choose the theme :) They still talk about it daily!!! For us, all vacations are stay-cations. My favorite thing to do is go to a play at the state theatre of Virginia, The Barter Theatre. It is located about 30 miles from our home. There is a marvelous artisan crafts center there, Heartwood, that has a wonderful restaurant that utilizes local products as well. Heartwood often hosts local musicians, so if you just do a little planning you can have a wonderful day out.
